New, the revised non-fiction book - Das Geheimnis um die erste Zelle -  The book has already been released. It presents the new theory on the origin of the first cells in the early continental crust, including the development of the genetic code. The revised English version - The First Cell  - from 2020 will be released shortly afterward.

Presentation of the non-fiction book “Das Geheimnis um die erste Zelle - Eine neue Theorie zur Entstehung des Lebens" (The Secret of the First Cell – A New Theory on the Origin of Life) at the Leipzig Book Fair 2026 on March 19, 2026, together with Christian Mayer (left). Introduction by Sarah Koch, Springer Nature.

New:

Approved: A project submitted to the Federal Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) on the prospection of “white hydrogen” (geogenically generated hydrogen in the Earth’s crust) in southwestern Germany has been funded since February 2026. The project builds on many years of field investigations during which geogenic gases were detected across a region spanning several hundred square kilometers. The proposal was prepared in collaboration with representatives from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the European Institute for Energy Research (EIFER), and the geosciences department of Heidelberg University.

Further information—such as the prerequisites for geogenic H₂ formation and the potential for its exploration and production—will be presented at a later stage.

New: The YouTube channel "Exciting Geology,"  featuring fascinating topics in geology and related fields, has launched. The first topic is the origin of life, with several clips introducing the new theory. The launch, featuring the cold-water geyser of Wallenborn, is now available (with English subtitles) at:

Ulrich C. Schreiber - Geology, novels, books and more -

Ulrich C. Schreiber

When I retired in March 2022, I left the University of Duisburg-Essen, where I worked as a university professor in research, teaching and organization (dean, pro-rector) for almost 26 years. The cut was less harsh than expected, since the research with colleagues from the chemistry and biology faculties followed seamlessly. Because the university's pages are limited for retirees, I have started to set up and maintain my own web presentation so that my previous and new research results remain publicly accessible and feedback, suggestions and criticism are possible for me.

In addition, there is a private world composed of texts, ideas, photos and novels. They are part of an amalgamation of experiences, what has been learned and what has been explored. They offer opportunities to think far beyond the boundaries of the now, to give suggestions or even just to stimulate thinking.

Much of one's own is formed through exchange with others. I introduce some personalities who create impressive works or develop new ideas. You will be linked to this page. Perhaps their number will increase over time.
